Pain au Chocolat

If they don’t have chocolate in heaven, I ain’t going…

Waking up before 6 am a few days in a row while going to bed quite late is no joke. And why does the damn alarm start ringing right after I set it for wake up in the morning when I lay in bed at night???
Today is one of those mornings. And I know that no matter what I have for breakfast, it is not going to be IT. Too little sleep must be counterbalanced with something worthy. I don’t know what you do, but my recipe is anything that comes with, is stuffed or dipped in chocolate!
This morning I tried Chocolate Mocha – good, but still it didn’t hit the spot. I even had a piece of dark chocolate with nuts and still wasn’t satisfied. And just when the thought came across Pain au Chocolat, I knew I had to have one of those…
I must admit I didn’t prepare all of it myself and chose an easier way out – got the frozen puff pastry dough, some dark chocolate (milk doesn’t work quite as well for my taste) and an egg for brazing it.

I let the dough sit there for 15-20 minutes so it gets a little softer.

Then rolled it out on the floured surface, cut it into 8-10 cm wide strips, put some chocolate on each one and rolled it up. The final touch before sliding it into the oven is brazing the little buns with beaten egg.
180 degrees, 10 minutes’ time for you to prepare yourself a nice cup of espresso or a latte et Voila!

No I can definitely say it wasn’t that bad waking up that early.
Ingredients:
* Frozen puff pastry dough
* Dark chocolate
* 1 egg for brazing

Bon appetit!
